Caring For A Dog Doesn’t Have To Be A Difficult Job.

Have you thought that caring for a dog might be too much to handle? It isn’t if you keep a few things in mind:

You are the top dog, You are in charge, You are the alpha dog, You are the top dog.

I think you get the picture. Fido must not end up controlling your behavior, so don’t give up your status.

Don’t misunderstand! It is not necessary to be mean while maintaining control, but you must lead in order to stay in control. This can be done in a caring, but firm way.

How in the world do I do that?

Well, there are many areas in which you will need to remain vigilant. A few of these include feeding patterns, toilet habits, and socialization.

Briefly, let’s look at these areas.

When you are the one defining Fido’s eating habits, you help to keep him healthy and fit. One way is to feed him at the same time everyday no matter what and pick it up if he doesn’t want to eat or has left food in the bowl.

He will learn that she must eat at the designated time or He will have to wait and go hungry.

However, an important thing to remember is to read the labels and insure you’re giving her the best food possible.

When it comes to toilet habits, make sure you let him out or take him for a walk at the same times everyday. This will get your canine buddy’s body trained for ‘going’ out of doors only.

Teaching successful socialization will bring happiness to the relationship between you and Fido. When he learns to get along with others, meaning not only people, but other pets too, you will realize a great joy and all that come into contact with him will have pleasure as well.

Ultimately, you must be consistent in all areas of caring for a dog. He will thrive on your loving guidance and you both will be much happier.

You should learn more about caring for a dog to have the best relationship with your dog. Find out more information at www.caringforadog.com

Get GPS Microchip ID For Your Pet Dogs

In today’s world, human life has been entwined with technology. Technology takes care of everything. This world of technology makes it possible for people to meet their needs. While some employ technology to satisfy their personal needs, some want to find means to satisfy their loved ones needs. The private space of human beings have been started to be inhabited by pets too. Pets sometimes substitute human company itself, making them the loved ones. This has caused the concern of the pet lovers as concerning with their safety and security. Well, technology comes to their help too, in the avatar of GPS microchip.

A GPS tracking system works in conjunction with the orbiting satellites which transmit signals to the GPS receivers, thereby pointing the exact location of the objects. The receivers pick up the message directly from the satellites in space. This data is processed by way of complex geometrical calculations which in the end would yield the location of the object accurately.

GPS is a short form of Global Positioning System, which is a method using signals sent out by satellites in orbit to be received by GPS stations to find the perfect location at that time. The signals or message transmitted from space, which are received by GPS stations or receivers and calculate the exact location through geometrical calculations of data.

Pet lovers can get a GPS microchip installed in their pets from their nearby vet. The system will not hurt your pocket as it comes at an affordable price. The procedure will not inflict any pain to the pets. Besides, the GPS unit will last as long as twenty five good years. Thus you are spared from the pain of constantly updating or servicing the equipment.

Microchips work on RFID (radio frequency identification) technology with no requirement of battery and/or power supply. Every microchip would have the owner’s information scribed in the form of codes along with pet’s details such as name, breed and color, etc.

One has to be out of the misconception that a microchip works on a GPS system. A microchip is far different from a GPS system. A GPS system is an active tracking unit enabling you to track your pets even when you are away from it, even from another corner of the world. You can learn about your pet from Boston to Bangkok. A microchip is passive equipment which is more or less a short-range reflector, requiring the physical presence of the pet owner.

Another thing of note here is that the primary objective of something like a GPS-enabled dog collar is to be able to track your pet while a microchip on your dog works more as an ID chip. So, for instance, if your dog is lost and then found, with a microchip, you can go ahead and verify that that’s your dog.

Hence, before running to your vet, make yourself clear what kind of technological solutions you are looking for your dog’s security. And this would make you take an informed decision and you will be happy in the end.

Microchips do not solve the problem. A Pet GPS tracker will find your pet in minutes Learn why our system is better at http://www.LoveMyPetsGPS.com.

Dog Health Food Recipe

by Moses Wright

While most dog owners rely on the convenience of manufactured dog food, many dog owners enjoy making their dogs food. A dog health food recipe can come in handy if the dog has a health problem like obesity or diabetes.

A dog health food recipe is not usually designed to treat a health problem. Rather, healthy dog food recipes are meant to provide a nutritious meal for any dog including those with a health problem. Dog owners of dogs with health problems should consult a veterinarian about the best meal preparation for the dog.

Lamb stew is a dog health food recipe. One pound lamb, three diced potatoes, two chopped celery sticks, two chopped carrots, two pints of chicken broth, and two tablespoons of olive oil are the ingredients needed to make the healthy lamb stew for dogs.

The meat should be cooked thoroughly in the olive oil before adding the chicken broth. The lamb and chicken broth should cook for forty-five minutes. The vegetables should be added and stewed for forty-five more minutes. The dog owner should make sure the lamb stew is cooled before it is served to the dog.

Since lamb tends to be expensive, the dog owner may substitute lean ground beef for the lamb. The dog owner may store leftovers in the refrigerator for use the next day or two. The dog should not be fed too much as even too much healthy food can contribute to weight-related dog health problems.

The dog owner can make a cabbage roll dog health food recipe. The ingredients are four large cabbage leaves, one half cup of white rice, one fourth cup of plain yogurt, chicken broth, and one half cup of cooked, shredded chicken breast. The large vein should be removed from the cabbage leaves, then they should be boiled.

The other ingredients should be mixed. Remove the cabbage leaves from the water and set the cabbage leaves on a flat surface. The mixture of the other ingredients should be divided among the cabbage leaves. The leaves should be rolled up, placed in a baking dish with enough chicken broth to cover the bottom and part of the cabbage rolls, and baked for thirty minutes.

When Will My Puppy Become An Adult?

by Jim Navary

“When is a puppy fully grown?”

That is probably not a question that is foremost in your thoughts when you bring a new puppy into your life. That precious little face, those huge soulful eyes, and that cute wiggle in his walk are what come to mind when thinking about your new puppy. But eventually, as your puppy gets older and probably somewhat destructive, you may find yourself wishing that he would grow out of some of those youthful traits and begin acting more like an adult. By the time he’s chewed your third pair of designer shoes you’ll probably begin to wonder…

“When will my puppy be fully grown?”

Although there are some similarities between early development stages of puppies and human babies, the process is considerably quicker for canines.

Your newborn puppy will develop rapidly during his first three weeks . He opens his eyes, takes his first steps, and begins to act like a tiny dog. During this early stage he will not really be aware of the world beyond his “mom” and his brothers and sisters.

Sometime around the third or fourth week, your puppy’s senses of sight, smell, and hearing develop rapidly. Soon, he will discover that there is more to his world than just his canine family. His relationship with his human family will begin to take shape. This is a very important stage in the development of your puppy’s personality and future behavior. Take care to avoid stressful or traumatic experiences as they may have an adverse impact on how your dog will behave as an adult.

Your puppy will begin learning proper pack “etiquette” during the fifth through seventh weeks. If he begins to bite inappropriately or play too rough, his mother will correct him. These early lessons provide some of the social skills he will need as he interacts with humans and other dogs.

During the first three months of his life your puppy will experience many new things. Whenever possible, try to make these learning experiences positive. In doing so you are much less likely to encounter behavioral problems as he approaches adulthood.

Your puppy enters the “toddler” stage of development at around three months. He wants to act more independently more independence and explores the world as he sees fit, not at the prompting of his mother or his human family. Shoes, furniture, books, and just about anything within reach will fascinate him. He will also learn what they taste like as he begins teething. This is a good time to begin very basic obedience training and establish your role as pack leader.

Your puppy will reach adolescence at around six to eight months, well on his way toward adulthood. Although the transition from adolescent to adult varies, depending upon the breed (or mix of breeds), you can be pretty sure that he has reached adulthood by the time his second birthday rolls around.

That’s when your puppy is fully grown.

Puppy Training: Ways to Train My Puppy

by Nick Vasquez

About 90% of American pet puppies live indoors with their owners. If you are thinking of having your dog live inside with you and your family, you have to go through the process of housebreaking them. Many pet owners are daunted by the responsibility of potty training a puppy. But it’s really not that hard to accomplish, it doesn’t need to be messy, and you don’t have to struggle with your pet when housebreaking him. You have to keep in mind though that this is a training issue and you have to put in a little more than just casual effort. You will need time, a little more involvement, as well as some training tools such as puppy training pads.

The Puppy is Boss

For those who own dogs or puppies, there are two major guidelines to follow. Remember to never punish your puppy for something you didn’t see him do. Two, always remember to praise your puppy for good behavior. Do not train by only using “no” when you see your dog doing something it should not be doing. Desirable behavior should be met with praise and treats.

Housebreaking Guidelines for Your New Puppy

There are different ways to housebreak puppies. When you start indoors, encourage them to use papers or puppy training pads for their bathroom acts. Puppy pads are usually scented with chemicals that attract little doggies to use them. As soon as you see them starting with their pre-potty pattern of walking around and sniffing the floor, pick them up gently and without saying anything, and carry them over to the puppy training pads or paper and reward them for the doing their bathroom acts properly.

When the new dog is comfortable with the papers or puppy training pads, they can then be put near the door or even outside. The transition is accomplished by focusing their toilet habits in a specific in the home to an outside place. In the very near future you will have no need for papers or training pads indoors.

The biggest issue with this method of puppy potty training is that is requires more time to get the puppy to go indoors. When house training puppies, other widely used techniques might work; you could, for example, use puppy crate training or cages, always accompanied by the owner’s close supervision.

When using a cage or crate to housebreak your puppy, realize that puppies can’t go for more than about seven to eight hours without using the bathroom. Crate training usually works because dogs do not like to mess their sleeping places, then have to lie in it. It is not a good idea to crate a puppy for long periods of time.

This is not to say, though, that continual supervision involves crates or cages, and paper or puppy pads. It is here that dog owners opt to spend whatever time is necessary with their pups. This works good for those who are retired, work from home, or any owner that can spend lots of time with the puppy. This method usually allows the owner to get their puppy out of the house when they first recognize the signs that the puppy needs to go to the bathroom. A constant watch must be kept on puppies to make sure that there are no accidents or slip-ups.

In summary, housebreaking your puppy should be considered a part of command trainings like ‘come’ or ’stay’. But puppy potty training and housebreaking will be the most difficult forms of puppy training due to the fact that they are simply the messiest. Don’t give up!

Your Cat’s Biggest Wish…

by Sonia Kekkonen

I recently saw something that was both strange and funny. But thinking about it, I realized it made a lot sense in many ways. What I saw was someone walking their cat in a stroller.

Have you ever seen one of these? They’re becoming more popular, but I live in a small town, and I’d never seen one before in my life. Like I said, at first I wondered why in the world anyone would want a stroller for their cat. But as I kept thinking about it, it made more and more sense. And now, I’ve also the proud owner of a pet stroller.

Yup, they may seem excentric and a luxury for spoiled pets, but they are far from it. You may ask who in the world takes their cat out for a stroll… But that’s the whole point!

While cats and dogs are very different in that you can walk a dog on a leash easily, but a cat is quite bit more difficult to leash train, the both adore the outdoors and getting some fresh air along with experiencing the exciting smells and sights.

Walking your cat on a leash IS possible, but does have risks associated with it. Were your cat to freak out over a dog or something else that frightens her, she could cause harm not only to herself, but also to you. With a stroller though, all that would be avoided.

The wonderful thing with a stroller is that now you can bring your kitty along woth you when you go for a walk, or when you go for a jog while your feline friend is safely within the stroller.

And they’re not just for walks. They’re great for visits to the vet, and for traveling in general. In fact, once you get one of these cat pet strollers for you own cat, you’ll find yourself wondering how you ever got along without it.

Getting A Dog To Stop Barking

by Craig Vic

A dog that will not stop barking can be annoying not just to you, but also to surrounding neighbors. It seems that no matter what you do to try and stop the dog, it just will not stop barking.

It is important to remember that a dog does not always understand a human’s wants and needs, so it is important to try and understand why the dog is barking.

Pay attention to when, where, and at what the dog is barking. Usually, there is an obvious reason- an unfamiliar smell, person, or sounds are examples.

Usually, the dog is trying to protect his and, thus your, property.

The most critical part of stopping the dog’s barking is to get informed. Identify the reason behind the barking and you can stop it before it starts. If the dog always goes nuts when the mailman comes, be ready for it.

Right before the neighbor typically comes home, you should put a leash on your dog. As the sound of his truck nears, tug on the leash so that the dog understands you are next to him. Sometimes it helps to comfort him by petting.

In fact, if your dog is an outdoor dog, keeping a squirt gun in hand may be a good idea. Before your dog really gets going with his barking, give him a reminder squirt with the water gun. Soon he’ll associate the barking behavior with that unpleasant consequence.

Don’t forget to also reward your dog when he behaves. A nice treat and a lot of belly rubs when he does not bark show that he is doing the right thing.

The Last Dog Training Course You Need

by Corey S. Allen

Now that you’re the grown-up, do you ever wonder how your parents tolerated your childhood pets? If your house was anything like mine, than they were more wild than tamed when not actually in the presence of people. Somehow it seems like a bigger deal now to have a lamp get smashed. Face it, you’re going to have to look into a dog training course. That decision made, how do you know who’s reputable and who’s just after your money?

Some people, especially older relatives will tell you not to waste your time and money. That a firm voice is all that is necessary. For some rare animals, that may be true, but most will benefit from training. A trained dog is much less likely to bite a rambunctious child than an untrained one. You can also have a much happier relationship with your dog, if you are confident that they will not run away, or attack other animals at the dog park.

What’s your learning style? Do you learn best by reading, by seeing something done or through verbal instructions? Knowing the answer to this question will help you to narrow down your search considerably and make the process easier for you and the animal. If you are uncomfortable your dog WILL pick up on this, delaying the process.

Now that you know your training preferences, the dog breeder where you got your dog from could be one of your first stops. Most established breeders got that way by entering their dogs into shows to proof the pedigree. So this is going to be a person who knows what they are talking about. Build a rapport and you may even learn some of their personal secrets.

A great choice for dog training courses is not so obvious, but quite helpful. Check out the local animal shelter and talk to the volunteers there. They give their time because they love animals and usually know quite a lot about with hard cases.

You should frequent dog parks for ideas. Watch how the owners interact with their companions and when you find a well behaved dog approach the owner. This way, you have already seen the end results before vesting anytime in hearing what they have to say.

For the over-worked, or just for the sake of comfort you might want to forego a dog school all together in favor of books or videos. The options there are almost endless, so be careful and read reviews. Make sure you take your time with this method and you’ll do fine.

How To Train Your Dog The Right Way

by Mike Hamlin

Dog’s are known as Man’s best friend, but interestingly enough they aren’t born that way. They must be trained, so no matter how adorable that newborn pup is, or how friendly an older go may be, that doesn’t mean that they instantly recognize and follow the rules of the house.

Have you recently got a new puppy or is your dog misbehaving? Don’t be concerned about this, because this article will teach you the information that you need to learn about dog training.

I agree it can be very annoying for you if you dont know how to act when your dog is gnawing your shoe, drinking from bathroom sink, messing up the house by urinating, barking when everyone is fast asleep and lot other nuisances.

Don’t get too upset, the dog isn’t doing this to mess with you. It just doesn’t know any better, or needs to be taught, or reminded of what it can and cannot do.

A puppys training commences right from the moment he enters your home. However dont think this statement implies the training should be harsh or intense. I am simply implying that you should start imparting it brief 5 minute sessions that should be repeated continuously till the puppy begins to understand what you are trying to tell him.

One important point that you should not forget is that each and every thing is totally new to the puppy. Hence they will have to spend some time learning. If you have bought your puppy from a well-known and a dependable breeder, the dog will have a strong basics that you can use to train him in the lessons he must learn.

In many ways, it’s like raising children, although in a much shorter span. But how you raise your puppy teaches more than basics like sit, and kneel. It provides the way he responds to things around him.

Basic commands may be taught in the home, however, if you plan to take your dog outdoors with you where he will encounter strangers, his timidity must be overcome. Your pet should be socialized early in life in order to show good behavior around others.

5 Steps to Crate Train for Dog Behavior Modification

by M.B.Bryce

Crate training a dog is essential for dog behavior modification …So, you must first grasp the mission of the crate. The intent of the crate ISN’T for correction. If you accurately crate train a dog, he will feel it as his “safe place” and desire to spend time there when needed.

1. The first item you want to do when you crate train a pet is set the crate in an area of your home where the family devotes a lot of time, such as the great room. Make sure you put a snug blanket or towel in the crate.

2. Afterward, guide your dog beside the crate and speak to him in a joyful tone of voice. Make sure the door to the crate is accessible. For dog behavior modification, encourage your dog to enter the crate with food snacks near it and right inside the crate (around the door) and lastly all the way inside the crate. Do not strong arm your dog inside the crate. If he doesn’t desire to go…it is okay. Continue to throw treats inside the crate until the dog walks calmly completely in to the crate to get the goodies. If food doesn’t do the job, try using a cherished toy. Utilize your body to close the opening, after your dog goes in the crate.

3. Go over number 2, in place of obstructing the entry with your body, fasten the entry to the crate.

4. Fix a appetizing chew toy (by filling it with peanut butter or cream cheese), escort your pet into the crate. While he is in the crate, supply him the chew toy and shut the door. While your pet is absorbed in chewing, get up and ramble around the house, occasionally going outside. Release your pet from the crate before he finishes chewing (or before he wakes if he’s been dozing off) but just if he is unexcited.

5. Commend your dog once he is in the crate, however don’t commend him as he is exiting out of his crate. This teaches him that being in the crate is pleasing and agreeable, while coming out is neutral. Furthermore, don’t make a huge ado while putting him in or taking him out, thus he will see it as no huge display.

Dog behavior modification originates with you, the loyal pet owner. Crate training is just one stage of thousands to keep your dog happy and healthy.
